The Ultimate July 4th Weekend Guide to Asbury Park (2026 Edition)

There is nothing quite like July 4th weekend on the Jersey Shore, and if you’re heading to Asbury Park, you’re already doing it right. This town brings a completely different energy, a flawless mix of rock-and-roll history, sprawling beaches, incredible food, and a vibrant, independent spirit.

If you are lucky enough to be crashing at The Asbury Hotel, you are officially positioned in the absolute sweet spot of the city. Equal parts chic, retro, and social, it’s just blocks from the boardwalk and home to some of the best hangouts in town.

Pack your sunscreen, bring your favorite vintage band tee, and map out your long holiday weekend with this ultimate itinerary.

Friday, July 3rd: Art, Dinner, & The Fireworks

In Asbury Park, the massive Independence Day celebration kicks off a night early. Because the beaches fill up fast, having your home base at The Asbury Hotel is a major cheat code.

Afternoon: Check-In & Chill

Where: The Pool at The Asbury Hotel

Drop your bags, grab a custom cocktail, and grab a lounge chair. The hotel pool is a legendary social hub with killer music, local beers, and a perfectly laid-back vibe to shake off the traffic from the drive in.

7:00 PM: Dinner with a View

Where: AP Rooftop or Porta

Head to the third floor of 1200 Ocean Ave to hit AP Rooftop. It gives you front-row, elevated views of the Atlantic while you share apps, fresh salads, and cocktails. If you want a ground-level, high-energy party crowd with world-class pizza, Porta (just a block off the boardwalk) is your best alternative.

🎆 9:00 PM: The Main Event: Independence Day Fireworks

Where: 2nd and 4th Avenue Beaches

The fireworks launch right from the sand at 9:00 PM.

Where to watch: Because AP Rooftop sits right over the boardwalk, you’re already in a spectacular zone. Alternatively, guests at The Asbury Hotel can easily walk back to the hotel's own Baronet Rooftop—the gorgeous, astroturfed rooftop park—to watch the horizon glow away from the heavy boardwalk foot traffic.

Saturday, July 4th: Ultimate Beach Day & Local Rock

Happy Fourth and 250th Birthday to USA! Today is all about soaking up the classic Asbury Park culture: sun, sand, and legendary live music venues.

9:30 AM: Morning Fuel

Where: Offshore or The Diner at Asbury Lanes

Grab a freshly roasted coffee and a pastry on the boardwalk, or hit the diner inside the Lanes for a hearty breakfast to prep for a full day under the sun.

11:00 AM – 4:00 PM: The Classic AP Beach Day

Walk right down Third Avenue straight to the ocean. Asbury’s beaches are wide, lively, and framed by the historic Convention Hall and Casino buildings. Pro-Tip: Make sure to buy your beach badge early online or at the boardwalk lockers—holiday weekends sell out fast!

8:00 PM: An Authentic Jersey Shore July 4th

Where: The Wonder Bar

The Event: You can't spend the Fourth of July in Asbury Park without paying homage to the Boss. Head over to The Wonder Bar (literally a two-minute walk from your hotel room) for Tramps Like Us, the top-tier Bruce Springsteen tribute band playing a massive holiday celebration set. It’s loud, sweaty, and pure Jersey magic.

Sunday, July 5th: Bowling, Brunch, & Antiques

Before you pack up and head home, spend your Sunday morning unwinding and digging into Asbury’s quirky, retro side.

10:30 AM: Recoup & Bowling Brunch

Where: Asbury Lanes

Conveniently attached right to your hotel, Asbury Lanes is a legendary hybrid bowling alley, diner, and music venue. Grab a boozy milkshake, a massive plate of disco fries, and rent a lane for an hour of vintage bowling under neon lights.

1:00 PM: Grand Arcade Shopping

Where: Convention Hall (The Boardwalk)

Walk off brunch by exploring the Grand Arcade inside Convention Hall. It’s lined with unique local boutiques, surf shops, and vintage apparel. Grab an iced coffee, take a final walk past the historic Casino shell at the south end of the boardwalk, and take in the ocean breeze before checking out.

Local Tips for Your Stay:

Parking: Asbury Park parking can be brutal on holiday weekends. Pay for the hotel valet or lot parking at The Asbury so you can leave your car parked all weekend—almost everything on this list is within a 5-to-10-minute walk!

Baronet Rooftop: Check the hotel's daily schedule when you check in. They frequently host nighttime outdoor movies or morning yoga on the roof deck.
